Clemens Trautmann studied with Sabine Meyer and Reiner Wehle at the Musikhochschule Lübeck. He received his Master of Music degree from Charles Neidich at the Juilliard School in New York. He is, among others, Hans-Sikorski Memorial Prize Winner of the German Foundation Musikleben for Outstanding Interpretation of Contemporary Music as well as the winner of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and the German Music Competition. He has appeared as a soloist at numerous music festivals in Germany and abroad, such as the Rheingau Music Festival, the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival, the Kissinger Summer, the European Weeks in Passau, Concerto Pomerania in Poland and the New York Focus Festival, and has worked with the Polish Chamber Philharmonic as well as the Lübeck and Heidelberg Philharmonic Orchestras. In addition to duo performances, his chamber music guest appearances, especially with the Diogenes Quartet, have taken him to the Berlin Philharmonie, the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Munich Gasteig, the Hamburg Laeiszhalle and the Beethovenhaus Bonn.
Since December 1, 2015 Clemens Trautmann is President of the traditional label Deutsche Grammophon.
