Frank Stahmer

Orchestra Marketing @ Vienna Academy Orchestra

Born in 1975 in Hamburg, Stahmer began playing the violoncello at the age of five and since then has been intensively involved with music of different styles and genres, especially classical music. He has played in various musical projects, orchestras and chamber music ensembles, jazz and rock bands. Stahmer studied business administration and marketing in Hamburg and was a pioneer in internet advertising with the advertising agency Interactive Marketing Partner (now deepblue networks AG) in the late 1990s. In 2000 he founded his own digital communications agency (BethkeStahmer), which presented a streaming advertising campaign in Germany for the first time, in 2003. Since 2004 Stahmer has dedicated himself exclusively to music, he studied International Arts Management at the University of Salzburg and wrote his master’s thesis “On the future of classical music” (2006). In 2005 he moved to Vienna in order to create the “European Composers Congress” (awarded by the City of Vienna) for the Austrian Composers’ Association (ÖKB) and the Vienna Mozart Year 2006. This congress led to the founding of the European Composers’ Forum in Vienna, where Stahmer remained Secretary General from 2006 to 2011, and the founding of the European Composer & Songwriter Alliance in Brussels, where he was responsible for the establishment of the European Composer & Songwriter Alliance, until 2010 he remained project and marketing manager at the ÖKB, planning formats such as the “Composers / Film Composers Lounge”. In 2011 Stahmer founded missionCulture, a communications and consulting agency for music and culture, which works for artists such as the Austrian world-class violinist Benjamin Schmid and the film composer Marcel Barsotti (The Pope, Miracle of Bern, etc.). He was co-organiser of the worldwide specialist forum for classical music Classical: NEXT in Vienna in 2013 and 2014 (awarded by the City of Vienna) and was also artistically responsible for the Classical: NEXT Festival Edition 2014. From 2007 to 2011 Frank Stahmer was also a member of the Platform for Cultural and Creative Industries initiated by the EU Commission and from 2010 to 2012 he was a member of the European Music Council (EMC). Since September 2015 Frank Stahmer has also been in charge of orchestra marketing at the Vienna Academy Orchestra (Martin Haselböck).
