Dorit Chrysler


Dorit Chrysler is an Austrian/American composer, thereminist and music producer. After studying musicology in Vienna, Dorit emigrated to New York where she co-founded the New York Theremin Society and created KidCoolThereminSchool. "Dame Electric" is a festival founded by Dorit for female pioneers of electric music, previous editions took place in New York and Paris.

Her compositions are based on analog instrumentation with a focus on new applications of the theremin, the first electronic musical instrument played without contact in 1920. From soundtracks (M-Eine Stadt Sucht Einen Mörder - David Schalko/HBO’s “GoingClear” Excerpts), music for theater, radio,dance, to productions (Theremin100 - New Music Written For Theremin, Compilation) or theremin soloist (San Francisco Symphony) and educator with a curriculum she developed for learning the learning the theremin. As a solo artist in collaboration with CERN, Dorit produced in 2020 "Electric Storm - Theremin 100" a film with Marie Losier, shot in the area of the CMS Collider CERN. She has released 6 solo records and has contributed to over 20 recordings.
