Global Arts Digital Project Manager @ British Council, Israel
Emmanuel Witzthum’s position since 2017 is Global Arts Digital Project Manager at the British Council, Israel. Past appointments have been Music Consultant – Israel Festival, Jerusalem, in 2014, and Head of Arts, Israel, again for the British Council in 2013. Prior to these Emmanuel has worked with Google Israel; The Matadero, Madrid; Future en Seine, Paris; UC Berkeley, USA, The Jewish Culture Festival, Krakow amongst others and as international relations consultant to different high tech companies. Between 2010 – 2012 he was a Lecturer at the Sapir College in Sderot, Israel, teaching courses in “Arts management” and he has also lectured at the Bezalel Academy for Design and Art and at UC Berkeley with additional lectures at Stanford and UCLA. Other notable achievements have been acting as Consultant to the Tel Aviv Municipality Cultural department, Chairman of the music committee and Special Projects Manager Sal Tarbut Artzi in Israel and Artistic Director and CEO – The Lab, Multidisciplinary Performing Arts Center, Jerusalem. During the period 2001-2004 he was composer in residence DAAD Kuenstler program, Berlin and free-lance violist performing with Deutsche Oper and Berlin Staatsoper.
Emmanuel´s passion is to connect technology, creativity and innovation; facilitate platforms and interfaces affording cross cultural dialogue, and expand the creative communities. Emmanuel believes in the transformation of arts from product to platform and of the artist from creator to agent for change. With over 7 years of management experience, he has developed and managed projects in the USA, Europe, Asia and Israel and worked with a diverse set of partners: from Google Israel to international festivals, institutions and start-ups. He lectures on Arts Management; on The Artist as Entrepreneur; and on the future of the arts in the era of web 2.0.
